Erotic Hustle: Redefining Sin Through Sacred Sexuality

Sacred Sex. Sacred Food. Divine Feminine. What does it all mean?! The Sensual Foodist is alive and well and she has many names: Lana Shay, Lana Baumgartner, and the latest reveal… Ava Genna.

May 9, 2016 was the last post on SensualFoodist.com 🙂 It’s been a few years!

This is an incredibly vulnerable message, as I’m going to announce a highly controversial topic. What’s more important is that you’re in for a surprise…a good one! I’ve been hiding in a cave (actually behind my laptop screen) for quite some time now, and haven’t been sharing on SensualFoodist.com, LanaShay.com, or PureKambo.com However, this interview just went live this week on PsychedelicTimes.com. Here’s why I’ve been MIA: I’ve been writing a book!

Bypass cancer with 10 action steps

Just over one month ago (though it seems much longer) I wrote about my father being in the hospital as a result of COPD. It really sucks to say; I’m not surprised that my grandmother ended up in the hospital over 2000 miles west, only a few weeks later. What are the chances? I guess I didn’t give it much thought before the situation came to be, but the chances were high.

Imagine NEVER cleaning your house. No washing the dishes, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, and so forth.  Do you think it would get filthy? Probably so…

What about your body? It’s a great metaphor, (that I certainly didn’t create) the body is a home. I love to refer to my body as a sacred temple.…

Coming out of the Closet

In “coming out of the closet,” I am referring to the psychedelic closet, as legendary Rick Doblin has put it. Sometimes I wonder if we’re all in the closet in one way or another. Is there anything that I keep to myself? Yes, there are a few things, but then again, there are always a few people who know. I never keep anything completely to myself. I’ve found it to be a great practice for me-just being open, even if it’s only with one person. I am so grateful for my relationship with my husband Joe, because I feel comfortable and happy to share with him, so many of my experiences and secrets.

One thing that connected Joe and I the day we met was our experiences with LSD.…

When health sends a wake up call

Last week I didn’t post an article. This week will be brief and very personal. My head is spinning with all of the external overwhelm. Of course, I’ve labeled it overwhelm, in all honesty, it’s just life doing what it does. My 55 year old father moved from Wisconsin to Washington last year, and now he’s moved down to Northern California, just a few hours north of us.

After only a few days in California, my father ended up in the hospital. He was diagnosed with COPD a few years ago, but for the past 10, I’ve listened to him cough day in and day out. He’s been a smoker for as long as I can remember and it’s really caught up with him.…

Do you have kitchen trauma?

What was dinner like for you as a child? Did your mother or father, grandmother or caregiver figure in your life cook for you? Was there love in your kitchen?

This summer, while my husband Joe and I were in Miami, we met up with a good friend of ours who I learned something new about. She was raving about decorating her new apartment and how getting placemats for the kitchen table was a big feat for her. I listened intently and felt happy for her, but had to cock my head a bit and think about the placemat comment. It was a “feat?” Why were placemats such a big deal. I asked and she went on to explain that the kitchen wasn’t her strong point.…

Old Skool Sensual

Let’s go back to a time, not too long ago, when we first moved to California.  I don’t do this too often, just once in a blue moon, or maybe just a new moon (did you know it’s less than a week away)?  I used to write poetry, and I think that creative spark just tried to poke it’s head out. ha!

When Joey, Joe and I first moved to California, I fell madly in love with food.  Can you believe it? I was honestly a sensual foodist before arriving to the West Coast, however, my love has grown deeper and yet more simple.  At one point, I tried on extreme veganism, then moved more toward vegetarian, and now I’m feeling the need to live without label that everyone has seemed to have tried on themselves once upon a time.…

Interview with the Sensual Foodist and Divine Kika

Just a few weeks ago, I was interviewed by Divine Kika.  She’s a good friend, and incredible Tantra teacher based in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If you missed it, no worries, because I posted a taste below, and the full interview can be seen on youtube. The last 15 minutes or so of the video is our interview.  This a full intro to the Sensual Foodist!  I’m honored to have been interviewed by Kika, as her work is inspiring and I think it’s just what we need to create a more loving, fulfilling life.  It wasn’t too long ago that Joe and I attended Kika’s kissing workshop, and we had so much fun I had to share this tantric kissing and sensual food practice.…

Flight food for lovers: what to eat in the sky

Joe (my husband) and I have been in transit since the day that we met…almost!  We love to break free from our daily grind and travel.  We’re passionate about exploring the world.

Traveling with a lover can be challenging and very telling of the relationship.  I love to travel with Joe and we always have a lot of fun.  As I mentioned in 3 tips to keep a romantic getaway truly romantic, one of our favorite things to do in a new location is try the local fare.  This piece is extremely important.  Deciding what, where and when to eat in a foreign country can be tricky.  Getting to the foreign country-the time in transit, a whole other level of strategy is necessary.…

I brought the cake for my furry dinosaur

No, I’m not going to tell you I’m into dressing up in furry costumes.  I am very well aware that a rather large group of people do this on a regular basis as a hobby.  However, I am not one of them.  I actually just wanted to tell you about the Sunset Spring Boat Party!

On May 4, I went to How Weird Street Faire in San Francisco.  I was a little apprehensive as I have this perpetual nagging voice in my head that tells me that I must stay home and stay on the grind.  I love my home, where I can play in the kitchen at any inspired moment and create magic, or snuggle with my lover, or simply walk outside and deeply inhale the orgasmic aroma of roses-how fortunate we are to have multiple rose bushes!…

High Cholesterol and a heart attack at 25

The story that follows is about the relationship we have with ourselves, as opposed an intimate partner, as it really all starts with oneself!

I am going to confess right off of the bat here.  For a short period in my life I was quite a hypochondriac. During high school I loved studying psychology and took any opportunity to learn more, and elected AP courses.  The more I studied, and learned about psychology, the more I felt the need to study myself-as I was the perfect subject for observation.  When I understood the correlation between psychological disorders and physical symptoms, I believe I began looking for issues within myself to dissect.  There was a brief time when I first started college, and had overcome my hypochondria; and I decided to get tested for everything instead of diagnosing myself. …
