You might be wondering what recovery coaching has to do with being a Sensual Foodist. The answer is everything. As my understanding deepens, it’s become clear to me that food is just as addictive, if not more, than any of the narcotics we have available to us on this planet. This is certainly no secret. Unfortunately, this has yet to become common knowledge. For example, research shows that sugar is 8 times more addictive than cocaine. The majority of “foods” most people eat each day are some of the most addicting substances on earth.

The fact that these addictive substances are not “food” is not public knowledge-but why? We are fueling a system that requires massive profits to thrive. The food industry is funded when we become addicted to their food, which in turn makes us sick. The pharmaceutical industry is funded when we are sick. It’s a cycle that I have no desire to explain any further. The only relevant and important fact is the crucial need for awareness. Once we understand what to put in and on our bodies, for optimal health, we will no longer choose those things that once caused us the converse. If you’re one of the people that jokingly states that the hot dog is worth the heart attack, I have a hunch that you may not be speaking from experience, or you may just be addicted.

You might be able to understand a bit more now about how recovery coaching does not only apply to narcotics. Letting go of an addiction to harmful substances or habits- means also letting go of the harmful substances that are socially acceptable. Sugar is a powerful drug. There are many more hidden in our food supply. I invite you to check every label of every product you consume, and nix the sugar for a complete week. I’d love to hear about your experience. I can assure you, it was not an easy feat for me.

That being said, I humbly accepted a certificate in 2014, as a recovery coach after training with Being True to You, one of the most effective Recovery Coach Programs in the United States. I am honored to be working with clients, both within the US and internationally, who are successfully moving through the recovery process, liberated from addiction.
