For me, chocolate from my lover is like a gift from heaven. If it’s from my husband Joe, and it’s the kind that I love most, I really do feel the LOVE!

We all know how chocolate works, right?

“If you’re one of these individuals who gets a nice mood boost whenever you sink your teeth into a bar of pure, unadulterated chocolate, it is not happenstance.

There’s actually a chemical reason called anandamide, a neurotransmitter produced in the brain that temporarily blocks feelings of pain and depression.

It’s a derivative of the Sanskrit word “bliss,” and one of the great things about chocolate is that it not only produces this compound, it also contains other chemicals that prolongs the “feel-good” aspects of anandamide.” [1]

It’s our last week here in Mexico and I am in a perpetual state of fascination, learning about the ancient tribes of this area.  Time and time again, I’ve heard that the ancient Aztec and Mayan cultures of this area used cacao as currency. The power of chocolate was no secret to them.  I highly recommend reading up on it, it’s incredibly interesting.

Pure, high quality chocolate is the perfect gift, and mood lift-if you’re going to treat yourself or your love.  Not only does the wisdom of ancient tribes affirm this, there’s plenty of great research that proves it with science.
